How ClippCut works

Everything happens on your device: the camera, the teleprompter, the captions and the file. Here’s what goes on, and what each browser can do.

0:00 / 0:16 2 steps

Step by step: clippCut with no internet

  1. It keeps working offline. Open ClippCut once and it’s saved on the device. Recording, captions, trimming and saving all happen on the phone or computer.
  2. Takes stay on the device. Every take is kept in this browser until you delete it. Nothing is uploaded unless you share it yourself.

Recording

The camera plays into the page, and ClippCut draws each frame cropped to the shape you picked, with captions on top if you turned them on. That picture and your microphone are recorded together. The teleprompter is on the screen only: it never appears in the video.

Which file you get

BrowserFile
Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac (and other browsers on iPhone)MP4
Chrome and Edge on Android, Windows, Mac and ChromebookMP4 (H.264 video, AAC sound)
FirefoxMP4 where the system supports it, otherwise WebM

ClippCut picks the best route your browser has and shows the format in Settings. MP4 works on every social app; WebM works on TikTok and YouTube but not Instagram.

Captions

As you record, ClippCut notes which word of the script you’re on, and when. Those timings become short captions, drawn into the video with Pro, or saved as an .srt file. See captions from your script.

Your takes and your privacy

Takes are kept in your browser’s storage on this device and never uploaded. Sharing uses your phone’s own share sheet. Your scripts stay in the browser too. Voice follow uses the browser’s speech recognition, which in Chrome sends audio to Google; everything else works without it.
