A teleprompter video recorder for Android

Open ClippCut in Chrome on your Android phone: the script scrolls under the front camera, and the finished MP4 goes straight to TikTok, Instagram or YouTube.

Step by step: clippCut with no internet

  1. It keeps working offline. Open ClippCut once and it’s saved on the device. Recording, captions, trimming and saving all happen on the phone or computer.
  2. Takes stay on the device. Every take is kept in this browser until you delete it. Nothing is uploaded unless you share it yourself.

Set it up

  1. Open ClippCut in Chrome and allow the camera and microphone.
  2. Tap the menu and choose Add to Home screen or Install app.
  3. Paste your script, choose the shape and record.
  4. Tap Share and pick the app you post to.

Good to know on Android

  • On some phones, voice follow and recording can’t share the microphone. If voice follow stops while recording, use speed scrolling instead.
  • A Bluetooth clicker or keyboard works as a remote: Space starts and stops recording.

Files and storage

In Chrome on Android, ClippCut records MP4, which TikTok, Instagram and YouTube all accept. Takes stay in Chrome’s storage on your phone until you delete them; tap Share and choose your gallery or files app to keep a copy.

Sound

Phone microphones pick up the room. Record in a small, soft room rather than a kitchen or a bare office, or plug in a wired or USB-C microphone: ClippCut uses whichever microphone the phone is set to.

Choosing a browser on Android

Chrome gives the best results: MP4 recording, voice follow and installing ClippCut like an app. Samsung Internet and Edge also work. Firefox can record, but its files and features vary by device, so it's best for practice runs.

Tips for a clean take

  • Turn off battery saver while recording; it can lower the frame rate.
  • Use Do Not Disturb so notifications don't pop up over the prompter.
  • Close other camera apps first: only one app can use the camera at a time.
  • If the picture looks too bright or too dark, change the light rather than fighting the camera: face a window, or add a lamp in front of you.

Questions

Which Android browsers work?

Chrome, Edge and Samsung Internet. Firefox records too, but may make WebM files, which Instagram doesn’t accept.
