ClippCut vs the teleprompters inside Instagram and TikTok

Instagram added a teleprompter to its Edits app in June 2025 and brought it into the main Instagram camera in 2026; TikTok’s camera has one too. If you post to one app and your scripts are short, they may be all you need. Here’s where ClippCut is different.

0:00 / 0:27 4 steps

Step by step: record a social video with ClippCut

  1. Pick the shape. 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts; 1:1 or 4:5 for the feed; 16:9 for YouTube. The camera frame shows exactly what you’ll post.
  2. Read while you record. Your script scrolls right under the lens as you talk, so you keep eye contact. Voice follow keeps pace with you.
  3. Captions, timed to your words. ClippCut already knows your script, so it times captions to the take and burns them into the video. No upload, no transcript to fix.
  4. Trim and post. Trim the start and end, then save an MP4 or share it straight to TikTok, Instagram or YouTube from your phone.

What the built-in ones do well

  • They’re already in the app you post from: write, record and post in one place.
  • Instagram’s lets you change the scroll speed and text size (Social Samosa, Social Media Today).

Third-party write-ups note that TikTok’s teleprompter only runs while recording inside TikTok and can’t be moved closer to the lens (teleprompter.works, August 2026). Apps change often, so check the current version of each.

When to use which

Posting a quick Reel with a two-line script? Instagram’s own teleprompter is fine. Filming something you’ll post in several places, a longer script, or a video you want to get right without ten full retakes? That’s what ClippCut is for.

Using both

You don't have to choose. Many creators use ClippCut to record a clean, captioned take with the script under the lens, then open it in TikTok or Instagram to add music, effects and text from the app's own editor before posting. The built-in teleprompters are handy for a quick, one-app video; ClippCut is for when you want the same video in several places, or more control over the take.

Where your scripts live

In the built-in teleprompters, scripts live inside that app's camera. In ClippCut, they're kept in your browser on your device, and you can open the same script in our free Reframely teleprompter on any screen, or send it to another device as a link.

Questions

Can I still post to Instagram from ClippCut?

Yes. Tap Share and choose Instagram: the video opens in Instagram’s own editor, where you can add music and post.
