Cut the dead air automatically

The second before you start talking and the pause where you looked for the next line are where viewers swipe away. ClippCut finds where you’re talking from the sound of your take and cuts the rest.

Step by step: cut the dead air automatically

  1. Dead air loses viewers. The second before you start talking and the pauses where you look for the next line are where viewers swipe away.
  2. ClippCut finds the talking. It listens to the sound of your take on your device, keeps the parts where you speak and cuts the rest. Nothing is uploaded.
  3. Tight, then post. Preview the tightened take, adjust the trim if you like, and save or share it. Captions follow the cuts.

Two kinds of trimming

  • Trim to the talking (free): starts the video just before your first word and ends it just after your last.
  • Cut long pauses (Pro): removes pauses longer than about two thirds of a second from the middle, leaving a little breath on each side, the jump-cut style talking-head videos use.

On your device

ClippCut measures the loudness of your take in tiny slices to find where you speak. The video isn’t uploaded, and there’s no AI service involved, so it works offline.

It works best in a quiet room. If there’s music or loud noise behind you, check the result before posting.

When to use jump cuts

Jump cuts suit tips, explainers and talking-head videos, where a fast pace keeps people watching. Leave them off for stories, emotional moments and anything where a pause is part of what you are saying; trimming the start and end is usually enough there.

The preview plays the result before you save, and the line under the switch tells you how much of the take is kept and in how many pieces.

Getting clean cuts

  • Record in a quiet room. The cut points come from the sound of your take, so background noise makes pauses harder to find.
  • Pause cleanly. When you lose your place, stop, breathe, and restart the sentence. The pause gets cut and the restart flows on.
  • Keep still between sentences. Small movements during a pause make the cut more visible; a steady position hides it.

When not to cut pauses

Emotional stories, jokes and slow explanations often need their pauses. Use Trim to the talking on its own for those, which only removes the dead air at the start and end.

Questions

Will it cut words off?

It keeps a little air before and after each stretch of talking. If a cut feels tight, switch it off and trim by hand with the start and end sliders.
